John Foster Wilson - Sir John Wilson (born John Foster Wilson in Nottingham, January 20 1919, died in Brighton, November 25 1999) was a public health advocate, best known for working to prevent blindness in developing countries in Africa and South and South East Asia. Blind himself, Wilson founded several organisations such as the Royal Commonwealth Society for the Blind (now known as Sight Savers International), Disability Awareness in Action and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness.
America, America - America, America is a 1963 Elia Kazan film about a young Greek who leaves his small town in Anatolia in 1900 dreaming of a better life in America. It was directed and written by Kazan, from his own book, and stars Stathis Giallelis, Frank Wolff, Elena Karam and Lou Antonio.
Let America be America again - Let America Be America Again is a poem by Langston Hughes used by United States senator John Kerry in his 2004 presidential campaign.
Parang (knife) - The parang is the Malay equivalent of the machete, typical vegetation in Malaysia is more woody than in South America and the parang is therefore optimised for a stronger chopping action with a heavier blade and a "sweet spot" further forward of the handle, the blade is also beveled more obtusely to prevent it from binding in the cut. This is the same rationale and (in practical terms) the same design as the Indonesian golok and very similar to the Philippino bolo.
